While we were in Arlington, TX recently to view the Game of Thrones costume exhibit, we had a few extra hours to hop over to Ft Worth to wander the famous Stockyards.
I had read about the cattle drive and thought that might be something interesting. I didn't realize that this is an entire National Historic District. There's abundant shopping, dining, even a John Wayne museum! You can go horseback riding, take a spin in a covered wagon, or stroll along the canal.
They actually shut down the main street and "herd" the longhorns from the stockyard, around a few blocks, and back to their pens. Then you can walk over and view them up close or from a raised platform. The little beasties really do have long horns!
If you're in the area, this stop is well worth your time. Here are some of the pictures I shot.
